North Lawndale shooting leaves motorist dead

Police are looking for the gunman who opened fire and fatally shot a man driving a car late Thursday in North Lawndale.

Around 11:40 p.m., the driver, a 35-year-old man, was in the 1200 block of South Sawyer Avenue when someone on foot opened fire and struck him in the head and torso, Chicago police said.

While trying to flee the unidentified man crashed into two parked vehicles.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The gunman was not arrested.
