New York Mets Receive Juan Soto Return Update Per Carlos Mendoza

Juan Soto is currently dealing with a calf strain that landed him on the 10-day IL, but Soto has been sidelined for nearly two weeks. During that span, the New York Mets have struggled to say the least.

The Mets are currently on an 11-game losing streak and hold a 7-15 record, which is good for worst in MLB.

Mets Receive New Juan Soto Return Update Per Manager Carlos Mendoza

Per CBSSports, Juan Soto is on track to return to the Mets lineup during the upcoming homestand:

“Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday that Soto (calf) remains on track to return during the team’s upcoming homestand, which runs April 21-30, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.”

As you can see, it’s a bit of a vague report given that New York is set to play nine straight games at home. The Mets need Juan Soto to return to the lineup like five days ago.

CBS’s aggregate report also wrote (on April 19): “It was previously reported that Soto was expected to be reinstated from the 10-day IL during the upcoming week, so a return during the first half of the homestand wouldn’t be surprising. The 27-year-old appears set to rejoin the Mets without needing a minor-league rehab assignment after missing the past two-plus weeks due to a calf strain.”

The Mets have scored 19 runs in their last 11 games.

Can Juan Soto Save the Mets’ Season?

Juan Soto has to be beside himself watching the Mets’ offense struggle so badly since he’s been sidelined, because now he has to feel so much extra pressure to lead the Mets to several wins.

When the reality is that the other Mets stars like Bo Bichette, Francisco Lindor, Marcus Semien, and Devin Williams have straight up been unable to pick up the slack in Juan Soto’s absence.

In 8 games played this season, Juan Soto has a .355 batting average with 11 hits, one home run, and two doubles.

So, who is to blame for the New York Mets’ recent losing streak?

Some will say manager Carlos Mendoza should be on the hot seat, but others believe that David Stearns, who constructed this roster, should be shouldering the blame.

The reality is the players have to play and produce, but a manager’s job is to maximize the value of the players on the active roster, and there are a lot WORSE rosters in Major League Baseball, but managers of those teams can get the best out of whoever takes the field or the mound.

One thing is certain, though: the New York Mets need to start winning, and they need to do it quickly.
