Before Friday’s game, David Stearns met with the media (via SNY Mets).

Stearns: “He’s progressing as we would expect. He’s moving around indoors…. We’re optimistic that this is not going to be a particularly long-term absence right now.”

Soto had been batting .355 with one home run, five RBI’s and three runs in eight games.

He is in his second year playing for New York after signing a massive contract in 2024.

Spotrac wrote (on December 9, 2024): “Largest Total Value Contract in League History

MLB: $765M (Soto) NFL: $450M (Mahomes) NBA: $314M (Tatum) NHL: $112M (Draisaitl)

Soto’s contract surpasses the top NFL + NBA contract combined (and it’s fully guaranteed).”
