The New York Giants have made minor roster moves as they continue their training camp.
The Giants have announced that they have signed fullback/defensive lineman Grant Finley. In addition, the Giants shared that they have waived tight end Tyler Moore.
It is common for NFL teams to make changes to their training camp rosters as it goes on, so it is understandable that the Giants are switching things up. Now, they have an interesting and versatile new player to keep an eye on in Finley. Meanwhile, they have waived Moore to free up a roster spot to bring in Finley.
Grant Finley Is An Intriguing Low-Risk Pickup for the Giants
Seeing the Giants take a gamble on an undrafted free agent like Finley makes sense. He will now give them a player to watch who is capable of being a fullback and a defensive lineman. This kind of versatility is never a bad thing for an NFL team to have with their depth, so it is understandable that they are taking a gamble on a player like Finley.
Finley played each of the last four seasons with Missouri Western. While playing at the school, he was mainly used on their defensive line but also got reps at the fullback position. In 10 games last season with the school, he recorded one block, one fumble recovery, two sacks, and 21 tackles. This was after he posted five sacks, one fumble recovery, and 29 tackles with the school during the 2024 season.
With numbers like these, Finley demonstrated some promise at the collegiate level. Now, he will be looking to impress after being signed with the Giants. This is ultimately a no-risk for the Giants as they continue to browse more young talent.
Finley was also somebody who the Giants have been watching before this signing. Per The Athletic’s Dan Duggan, Finley was a tryout at the Giants’ rookie camp and vet minicamp this past spring.
Tyler Moore Will Now Be Looking for New Opportunity After Being Cut by Giants
As for Moore, he will now be looking to land another opportunity after being cut from the Giants’ training camp roster. The 6-foot-6 tight end signed with the Giants last week but is now once again a free agent with today’s news.
Teams looking for more depth at the tight end position could consider taking a look at Moore. He just completed his collegiate career with Iowa State during this past season. In 45 games with the school over parts of five seasons, he recorded two touchdowns, 21 receptions, and 245 receiving yards.
It will be interesting to see if Moore can land another opportunity after being released by the Giants.
