A woman was injured when someone she knows hit her in the head with a gun which then discharged into the ceiling Thursday morning during a home invasion in River North.
Around 5:10 a.m., a person who knew the 21-year-old woman forced his way into a residence in the 500 block of North State Street and the two began arguing, Chicago police said.
The argument was believed to have started over money.
The woman was struck by a gun, causing it to go off into the ceiling, according to police.
She suffered a bump to her head and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was in fair condition, officials said.
Squad cars were seen near the Royal Sonesta hotel, but police couldn’t confirm that the incident occurred there.
No one was shot and no additional injuries were reported, police said.
The attacker was not arrested.
