MLB World Reacts To Anthony Volpe’s Performance In Yankees Minor League Game

On Wednesday, the New York Yankees finished their series with the Texas Rangers in Arlington.

The Yankees lost by a score of 3-0 (but still won the series 2-1).

At the same time, Anthony Volpe continued action in the Minor Leagues (Double-A Somerset) as he recovers from injury.

The Yankees wrote (via X) on April 28: “Today, the Yankees transferred the rehab assignment of INF Anthony Volpe from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to Double-A Somerset.”

Volpe finished Wednesday’s Double-A game with two hits in four at-bats.

Here’s what people were saying on social media:

Somerset Patriots: “Anthony Volpe continues his rehab in Somerset with a 106 mph single.”

Mike Ashmore: “Two rough baserunning sequences for Volpe here. Got backpicked off first after his last single and seemed to make a business decision to not slide. Just now, thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double. Regardless, he’s now 2-for-3 on the day.”

@NYY_Prospects: “Somerset lost 6-5 in the second game. Gerrit Cole looked fine, but gave up two homers. Eric Reyzelman had his first bad outing in relief. HRs by Jace Avina (6th) and Garrett Martin (5th). Jackson Castillo had an RBI single, Anthony Volpe had two hits.”

@LatinoSports: “Volpe gets another hard hit single but was thrown out at second base. He’s now 2-for-3 on the afternoon”

@JulianGuilarte1: “Volpe made a nice play to start the fourth, but Cole gave up his first hit on an oppo single against the next batter.”
