Minnesota Timberwolves Announce Anthony Edwards News For Game Vs Rockets

NBA superstar Anthony Edwards has played in just two of the last 12 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves as he deals with a lingering knee injury that originally kept him out for a few weeks.

While Edwards has come back, albeit for just two games, he remains on the Timberwolves’ injury report as the team nears a fifth playoff appearance in a row.

However, before Minnesota’s game against the Houston Rockets, the team announced an injury update on the franchise star who has been sidelined for a majority of games over the past month.

Timberwolves Announce Anthony Edwards Injury Update

GettyNEW YORK, NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 05: Anthony Edwards #5 of the Minnesota Timberwolves warms up before the game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on November 05, 2025 in New York City.

According to the team, Edwards has been upgraded to questionable for their Friday game against the Rockets.

This comes after Edwards has sat out the Timberwolves’ last three games with the knee injury. It is the first time the star has been listed as questionable since he last played on April 3.

The news arrived shortly after it was reported by Jon Krawcyznski of The Athletic that Minnesota head coach Chris Finch was hopeful the star would play in at least one of the team’s final two games of the regular season.

“The priority now is getting the team healthy and in a rhythm that has rarely been seen this season. To that end, Edwards, who has missed 10 of the last 12 games, could be nearing a return as well,” he wrote after the Timberwolves’ loss to the Magic. “He went through a pregame workout on Wednesday night, and Finch said the hope is Edwards can get a game or two under his belt before the regular season ends.”

Now, Edwards is officially questionable, and while not yet cleared, making steps to get back on the court.

In 60 games this season, Edwards is averaging 28.9 points, five rebounds, and 3.7 assists on 48.9% shooting, but has since been ruled out for end-of-season awards. The Timberwolves have gone 5-5 in the recent games he has missed.

Timberwolves Injury Report Vs Rockets

While Edwards was upgraded, the Timberwolves announced a few other changes to the injury report on Thursday in the lead-up to their game against Houston.

For one, Rudy Gobert is officially listed as out for rest. That was the case in the team’s last game against the Orlando Magic.

Additionally, Ayo Dosunmu, Julius Randle, and Bones Hyland are all listed as questionable, just like Edwards. Dosunmu missed the game against the Magic with a lingering calf injury, while Randle sat for right-hand soreness. The two are both on the injury report for Friday with the same injuries. Hyland, though he didn’t miss the game on Wednesday, is facing a hip injury that could sideline him.

The Timberwolves have clinched the sixth seed in the West and are likely playing it safe in the final few days of the regular season in order to have a healthy roster for a likely first-round matchup against the Denver Nuggets.

But still, based on the latest injury update for Edwards, he appears to be ramping up for a return, and that remains the most important news for Minnesota as they now gear towards another deep postseason run.
