Miles McBride Sends Poised Message After Knicks Reach Eastern Conference Finals

The New York Knicks are back in the Eastern Conference Finals after sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers in their second-round playoff series.

The Knicks dominated the Sixers in Game 4 to earn a 144-114 win. Miles McBride scored a game-high 25 points, knocking down seven 3-point shots. Jalen Brunson had 22 points, four rebounds and six assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns put up 17 points, four rebounds and 10 assists.

For the second straight postseason, the Knicks are in the Eastern Conference Finals. They will face either the Detroit Pistons or Cleveland Cavaliers for a shot at making their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Miles McBride was asked about the Knicks making the Eastern Conference Finals for the second consecutive year. McBride was happy with the result, but he explained that it was not the goal for the Knicks this season.

“It’s what we expected to do,” McBride said, via SNY. “I feel like this group is special, but we can’t take it for granted, you know? It’s something special to do. Obviously, this fan base has been wanting this, but we have to stay locked in and know that getting into the Eastern Conference Finals isn’t the final goal.”

The Knicks have nearly a week of rest since they easily dispatched the Sixers in four games. They will have to wait for the winner of the Pistons-Cavaliers series. They could either begin the ECF on the road in Detroit or at home inside Madison Square Garden against the Cavs.

Last year, the Knicks were outplayed by the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Indiana stole the first two games in New York before finishing the series in six games.

Miles McBride Reacts to Knicks Fans Invading Philadelphia

Game 4 felt like a home game for the Knicks due to a number of fans who made the trip to Philadelphia. Miles McBride appreciates the support from their hardcore fanbase, sending a message to them after the game.

“I definitely knew the Knicks had crazy fans, really passionate fans,” McBride said. “But for them to travel, the way they travel throughout my career and be as loud and just always have our backs, it’s been amazing.”

The Knicks guard added, “I’ve never seen anything like it. Honestly, I think it really does give us energy. Really helps us out when guys feeling down like they picking this up right there, so it’s a great feeling.”

McBride has stepped up since entering the starting lineup in the last two games, filling in for the injured OG Anunoby. He averaged 14.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists. He’ll likely come off the bench in the Eastern Conference Finals if Anunoby gets cleared from his “very minor” hamstring injury.
