Mike Brown Delivers Huge Knicks Update Before Hawks Playoffs Series

The New York Knicks are heading into the first round of the NBA Playoffs with a massive health boost.

With the Atlanta Hawks series right around the corner, head coach Mike Brown has delivered exactly the kind of update the Knicks fans were hoping for, and it signals that New York may be entering the postseason at full strength.

Mike Brown Confirms Full Knicks Practice Participation

According to reporter Jared Schwartz:

“Mike Brown said everyone practiced for the Knicks.” In a league where playoff injury reports can make or break a team’s momentum, this is about as clean a bill of health as you can ask for heading into Round 1.

OG Anunoby, Landry Shamet Injury Report Context

To understand why this is such welcome news, you have to look back at the Knicks’ regular-season finale against the Charlotte Hornets. New York entered that game with a notably lengthy injury report, one widely expected given the circumstances.

With a playoff spot already secured and home-court positioning locked in, the Knicks used the Hornets game as an opportunity to rest key starters and give bench players meaningful minutes.

The biggest concern on that report was OG Anunoby, who had been dealing with a ankle strain that kept him sidelined in previous games. Alongside Anunoby, Landry Shamet was also listed. With those two names on the injury list, there was genuine concern heading into the postseason about the Knicks’ depth and readiness.

That’s what makes Brown’s practice update so significant. The fact that everyone was on the floor practicing heading into the Hawks series strongly suggests the Knicks will carry a clean, or near-clean, injury report into the playoffs.

Mike Brown Speaks on Knicks’ Championship Mindset

Beyond the health update, Brown made it abundantly clear where the Knicks’ mindset is locked in heading into these playoffs.

“I love the group. We’re competing, not just for 53 wins. We’re competing at the end of the day, like we feel like everyone else is, to win it,” Brown said.

Brown also reflected on the growth of key pieces heading into the postseason. On Karl-Anthony Towns, Brown was confident: “He’s an All-Star. He’ll probably get votes for first, second, third team — which is deserving.”

And for Josh Hart, Brown’s message was simple and direct: “Teams won’t guard him. When they don’t, we want him to let it fly. He’s won games for us with his shooting. It’s no different going into the playoffs — if a team decides not to guard him, Josh let it fly, ’cause we’re with you.”

With everyone practicing, stars healthy, and a coach who has clearly grown into his role: “Now it’s based more on feel, a little bit smarter with my work and the team’s work,” Brown said of his evolution, the New York Knicks look primed and dangerous entering the Hawks series.
