The rankings held up well through the first round of the playoffs.
Warren knocking off Palatine was the only mild surprise and that represented a trend. The North Suburban conference, which had four teams popping in and out of the rankings all season, had a great first round.
The Blue Devils, Libertyville, Stevenson and Lake Forest all won. There were no North Suburban teams in the Super 25 last week. The teams spent the season beating up on one another and I wasn’t sure what to do with them.
Stevenson and Libertyville rejoin the Super 25 this week. The other new addition is undefeated West Aurora, which makes its season debut.
Maine South jumps all the way up to No. 13 and could have been placed higher. The Hawks looked excellent against Naperville North. There will be a lot more on Maine South and sophomore quarterback Jameson Purcell in Four Downs.
