The first week of the new year is traditionally a pretty empty weekend for high school basketball. That has changed a bit over the past few years, with some shootouts cropping up.
But a good chunk of the Super 25 didn’t play this week, so there wasn’t much movement in the rankings.
Hersey drops out after a heavy loss to Hinsdale Central. The Red Devils are probably too low at No. 16 right now, but there wasn’t a good way to move them up with very few teams playing or losing this week.
Evanston is the only new addition. The Wildkits didn’t play this week but they had a nice run over the holidays, advancing to the championship game in Centralia. They also have wins against Rolling Meadows and Fremd this season. Evanston’s only local loss is to Deerfield.
