Matt Eberflus: no changes to Bears starting offensive line

Despite giving up seven sacks to the Texans on Sunday night, the Bears won’t make a change to their starting five offensive linemen, coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday.

Rather, Eberflus said, the Bears will focus on individual improvement for left tackle Braxton Jones, left guard Teven Jenkins, center Coleman Shelton, right guard Nate Davis and right tackle Darnell Wright.

“We’re looking for continuity, consistency and communication,” he said.

Jenkins won’t practice Wednesday because of a deep thigh bruise, but the Bears are optimistic he’ll be able to play Sunday in Indianapolis. Matt Pryor will take Jenkins’ place in practice Wednesday.

The Bears don’t have many options to change personnel after Ryan Bates was put on injured reserve with a shoulder and elbow injury Saturday. Backup interior linemen Doug Kramer and Bill Murray had a combined one NFL start entering this season.

Ten Texans players pressured rookie Caleb Williams a total of 36 times Sunday night, per NFL Next Gen Stats.
