Marquee’s Bruce Levine apologizes to Cubs execs Jed Hoyer, Carter Hawkins for post on X

Bruce Levine made news Monday night — by accident.

Levine, the baseball reporter for the Cubs’ Marquee Sports Network and The Score, posted a message on X that was not intended for that audience, or any audience. At 7:46 p.m., Levine posted: “You and the other coaches have been the stars of the team being 12 games over .500. Let’s Hope twinkle dee and twinkle dum don’t sell you guys out like the 2025. Enjoy the t the family time pal.”

Levine appeared to be trying to message a member of the Cubs’ coaching staff directly, but his words ended up on X, where thousands of users saw them, surely to Levine’s chagrin — he later deleted the post. It was believed that “twinkle dee and twinkle dum” referred to Cubs baseball president Jed Hoyer and general manager Carter Hawkins. That now appears to have been the case.

A Cubs spokesperson told the Sun-Times, “Bruce has apologized to Jed and Carter, and they’ve accepted his apology. We’ve moved on, and we’re focused on an exciting second half of the season.”

That might be easier said than done. Levine is a constant presence at Wrigley Field, often sitting right next to Hoyer and Hawkins in media scrums, which air on Marquee.

Levine also appears on Marquee pregame shows and segments on The Score, where he co-hosts “Inside the Clubhouse” on Saturdays.
