A wildfire that sparked amid dry, hot weather and Red Flag warnings across Colorado has prompted mandatory and voluntary evacuations in Larimer County.
The fire is burning west of Berthoud in the 5300 block of West County Road 8E, near Dry Creek Reservoir, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for an area bordered by Carter Lake Reservoir to the west, Homer and Windemere roads to the north, Dry Creek Reservoir to the south and North County Road 23 to the east, according to emergency responders.
Voluntary evacuations were also issued east of the mandatory evacuation zone. That area is bordered to the west by North County Road 23, the north by Welch Reservoir and 42nd Street, the south by West County Road 8 and the east by U.S. 287.
Information about the size of the fire and what started it was not immediately available Monday afternoon.
