Man tried luring girl walking to school in Little Village, police say

Chicago police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to lure a girl as she walked to school Tuesday in Little Village.

The girl was walking in the 2400 block of South Trumbull Avenue when the man, who also was on the sidewalk, waved for her to come toward him, but the girl crossed the street to avoid him, Chicago police said. It’s unclear what time the incident happened.

Moments later, the man drove up alongside the girl in a gray GMC Acadia and asked her where he could sell clothing. He then asked the girl for her age, where she was going, about her social media accounts and how he could contact her, according to police.

The girl never engaged with the man, and the man drove away from the area northbound on Homan Avenue, police said.

The man was described as a Hispanic in his 20s or 30s with brown or black hair and a skinny build, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Area 4 detectives at (312) 746-8251. Anonymous tips can be submitted at cpdtip.com.
