Man shot, killed in West Loop; person of interest in custody

A man was shot and killed during a verbal altercation Saturday in the West Loop, Chicago police said.

The man, 61, was involved in a verbal altercation with a 24-year-old man on a pedestrian bridge in the 400 block of South Peoria Street at 6:04 p.m., police said. He was shot in the head and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he later died.

The 24-year-old was taken in for questioning, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
