A person was shot and wounded Tuesday after gunfire broke out on state Highway 24, authorities said.
The shooting brought traffic to a standstill on the eastbound side of the highway on the Oakland site of the Caldecott Tunnel, according to authorities. It remained at a crawl past 1 p.m.
Authorities said a man in his 20s had been shot at least once. That man took himself to a hospital, authorities said. Hospital officials in Alameda County notified authorities that somebody had shown up with a bullet wound.
He was in stable condition, authorities said.
Traffic was at a stop on eastbound Highway 24 near the Telegraph Avenue exit, according to observers.
Further inquiries to the CHP were not answered immediately.
