San Jose police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead exactly one month after the city’s last homicide, according to a department press release.

‘You got off easy:’ California man convicted as accessory in stepmother’s slaying gets 248 days

Authorities received a call around midnight on Friday of a shooting around Townsend Avenue and Park Entrance Drive. When police arrived on the scene, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Medical aid was called, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming their identity and notifying their next of kin.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation. Authorities did not announce any arrests or release any suspect information.

The killing is San Jose’s 24th homicide this year.
