Man killed in overnight Denver shooting near City Park

A man was killed Sunday in an early morning shooting in Denver’s Congress Park neighborhood, police said.

The shooting happened near the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and Josephine Street, the Denver Police Department said around 2 a.m. Sunday.

The intersection is on the northern edge of Denver’s Congress Park neighborhood, just south of City Park.

Police said the man, who has not been publicly identified, died on scene and his death is under investigation as a homicide. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will release the man’s identity at a later date.
