Paramedics took one man to the hospital Monday morning after shots were fired by Aurora officers, according to the police department.
Officers responded to a “suspicious occurrence” in the 1000 block of South Elkhart Way at about 3:15 a.m. Monday, the Aurora Police Department said in a statement on social media.
The block is near the intersection of East Mississippi Avenue and South Chambers Road in Aurora’s City Center neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they confronted an unidentified man and shots were fired by the officers, police said.
Information about what led up to the shooting, how many officers were involved and the man’s condition was not available Monday morning. No officers were injured in the shooting.
The 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team will investigate the shooting and the officers’ use of force.
