A man was hit by freight train Friday morning in Englewood on the South Side, badly injuring his foot.
Paramedics responded to the 300 block of West 60th Street at 6:50 a.m. for a person struck by the train, Chicago Fire Department officials said.
The victim, who possibly lost his foot, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition, according to the fire department.
Metra Southwest Service trains were delayed by about an hour but were on the move again by 8 a.m., according to a spokesperson with the train agency.
No further information was immediately available.
SWS trains will be halted in downtown Chicago near Chicago Union Station due to a freight train striking a pedestrian. Estimated delay times are unknown but extensive delays are anticipated. Updates will be provided.
