Man held in Joliet shooting that left 3 wounded

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that left three people wounded in Joliet, police said.

Michael Gallegos, 34, faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon, police said. He was arrested Sunday morning.

Gallegos allegedly shot a 38-year-old man during an argument at a gathering in the 5300 block of Sunmeadow Drive at 11:32 p.m. Saturday, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital in a personal vehicle with a “life-threatening” gunshot wound to his abdomen, police said.

Stray gunfire hit a 55-year-old woman in her ankle and grazed the thigh of a 32-year-old woman; both were treated at a hospital and released, police said.
