Man found shot to death on South Side

A man was found shot to death Saturday night in the Oakland neighborhood on the South Side.

About 8:40 p.m., officers found the man, 32, in the 3800 block of South Ellis Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, Chicago police said.

He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man as Chevelle Carter of Calumet Park.

A witness told police Carter was shot by two men who fled the scene in a white vehicle.

There was no one in custody.
