A man was found fatally shot early Tuesday in Auburn Gresham on the South Side.
Police were patrolling the area when they heard shots and found a 23-year-old man unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his chest lying on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of West 77th Street around 2:35 a.m., Chicago police said.
The unidentified man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A gun was recovered on the scene and no arrests were made.
Area 2 detectives are investigating.
