No charges against Aurora police officer who fatally shot Kilyn Lewis, DA says

Aurora officers responded to the 1900 block of Kingston Street — between East 19th Avenue and East Montview Boulevard — around 2:42 p.m. Saturday after residents reported a man lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound, according to a news release from the police department.

The block where the man was found is just north of East Colfax Avenue and near multiple parks, churches and schools.

Paramedics took the man, who has not been identified by police, to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.

Police said investigators don’t know if the shooting happened where the man was found or at a different location, and no suspect information was available Sunday.

The shooting is under investigation and anyone with information should call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867, police said.
