Man dead, woman critical after West Lawn crash

A man is dead and a woman hospitalized after a crash in West Lawn Sunday night, according to Chicago police.

A black sedan and silver sedan were northbound in the 7100 block of South Pulaski Road at 8:35 p.m. when the two collided while the silver sedan attempted to merge into another lane, police said. The man driving the black sedan then hit a light pole and was ejected from the vehicle; he was declared dead at the scene.

A woman who had been in the black sedan was also ejected from the car and taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said. The man driving the silver sedan and a woman who was in the vehicle with him refused medical services at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
