Man dead following Brighton Park apartment fire

A man was dead after an apartment fire early Thursday in Brighton Park on the Southwest Side.

Around 4:05 a.m., the man, believed to be in his 60s, was found unresponsive during the fire in the 4500 block of South Francisco Avenue, Chicago police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he died, police said.

Sadly, a Fire fatality resulted from a fire at 4259 S Francisco. Fire Companies and Public Education will be on that block distributing smoke detectors and Fire safety literature today at 10:00 a.m. Please check your smoke and CO detectors to ensure they are properly working.

Four people were displaced following the blaze, which is being investigated.
