Man arrested in fatal shooting at Church’s Texas Chicken in Aurora

A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday for second-degree murder in a fatal shooting at a Church’s Texas Chicken in Aurora.

Jontaye Acoray Tassian was arrested by the Aurora Police Department two days after officers responded to the shooting at Church’s Texas Chicken at 11900 E. Colfax Ave.

The shooting occurred around 4:45 p.m. Friday after an altercation broke out between a man and a couple who didn’t know each other, Aurora police said in a news release.

One of the men, later identified as Tassian, pulled out a gun and shot the other man before fleeing the scene with the woman.

The shooting victim was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries, Aurora police said. He has not been identified.

Tassian is in custody on a $50,000 bail, according to court records. His next court date has not been set.
