Man arrested after verbal dispute leads to shooting in South Chicago

A man was arrested after he allegedly shot another man in South Chicago Friday night during a verbal altercation, according to Chicago police.

Two men, 42 and 33, were in a verbal altercation that became physical in the 8000 block of South Phillips Avenue at 10:58 p.m. when the elder man shot the younger man in the abdomen, police said. The younger man was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

The 42-year-old was arrested and taken to Jackson Park Hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries, police said.
