Man accused in South Shore triple shooting is arrested in Georgia

A man accused of shooting three women, two of them fatally, this year in South Shore was arrested Thursday in Georgia.

Ricardo Gonzalez, 32, allegedly kidnapped the three women and shot them just before 5 a.m. Jan. 28 in an alley in the 7700 block of South Oglesby Avenue, according to Chicago police and the Department of Justice.

He was arrested in Cobb County, Georgia, by the U.S. Marshal Service on charges of kidnapping, two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, officials said.

Gonzalez, who is a member of the Venezuelan street gang Tren De Aragua, is waiting to be extradited to Chicago, according to the Department of Justice.

Two women, 37-year-old Oriana Rodriguez and 39-year-old Yeris Norelis Jimenez Castillo, were found in an alley with gunshot wounds to their heads and were dead at the scene, the Cook County medical examiner’s office and police have said.

The woman who survived the shooting, believed to be in her 20s or 30s, suffered gunshot wounds to her face and chest, police said.

She ran to a nearby home after the shooting and banged on the front door, pleading for help.

“She was saying, ‘Help, help me,’” the homeowner, Marcia Talbert, previously told the Sun-Times. “She finally came a little bit forward, and she was covered in blood.”

Talbert and her husband called 911 as the woman ran to another neighbor’s home, where she waited on the front porch until an ambulance arrived.
