DUBLIN – A magnitude 3.9 earthquake rattled the East Bay on Monday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake hit at 7:46 p.m. about 2.9 miles west of Dublin and at a depth of about 6.8 miles, the USGS reported.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
BART announced its trains will run at reduced speed while tracks are inspected for damage. Residual delays of up to 20 minutes are expected throughout the system.
The earthquake was initially reported as a magnitude 4.2 but later downgraded to 4.0 and then to 3.9.
The USGS said the quake was felt as far away as San Francisco, Santa Clara and Pleasant Hill.
