Live updates: 49ers face Seahawks on Thursday Night Football

The 49ers are in Seattle to face the Seahawks in a significant NFC West showdown Thursday night. The game is on Amazon Prime and will air in the Bay Area on Fox.

The Niners are coming off a surprise home loss to the Cardinals just four days ago after an injury to kicker Jake Moody forced them to change their game strategy, and they blew a second 10-point fourth-quarter lead in the last three games.

Areas of interest for the 49ers include Brock Purdy’s uptick in scrambles, correcting turnover miscues from recent weeks and getting the offense, defense and special teams to help one another out in a “complementary football” push.

Seattle leads the NFC West race five weeks into the season at 3-2 and, despite the consternation created by three losses in four weeks, the 49ers can tie them atop the division with a win Thursday.

The 49ers signed kicker Matthew Wright this week to fill in for Moody, so they won’t have to ask punter Mitch Wishnowsky to kick another field goal unless something else goes awry. The will be without strong safety Talanoa Hufanga, though, who went on injured reserve this week with a wrist injury. Rookie Malik Mustapha is likely to start in place of Hufanga.
