LiAngelo Ball Says Music Is His Main Career, but He Still Sees NBA Return Path [EXCLUSIVE]

LiAngelo Ball has a new partnership with TWIX, a growing music profile and a very different day-to-day career than the one that once centered entirely on chasing an NBA role. But he is not shutting the basketball door.

In an interview with Heavy tied to his new TWIX campaign, Ball said music is now his “main career choice,” while making it clear he still believes he is capable of stepping back into the NBA if another opportunity comes. That combination — a rapper with pro basketball ambitions still intact — is exactly the lane Ball says he is living right now.

TWIX is using that dual-track identity as part of its push for TWIX Bits, with Ball promoting the idea of a “Two-Way Contract” for fans embracing multiple talents. The brand is offering fans a chance to submit their own “two-ness” for a shot at $2,000 toward those pursuits.

Ball sees himself as both an artist and a still-capable basketball player.

“I feel like I’m in the position to play in the NBA,” Ball told Heavy. “If they ever did ask, I could go tomorrow and start playing and working out and stuff.”

That did not sound like someone actively campaigning for a roster spot at all costs. It sounded more like someone who has chosen his primary lane while leaving the second one open.

LiAngelo Ball says music comes first right now

Ball was straightforward when asked to define his current professional focus. He did not present basketball and music as equal priorities at this stage.

“Music’s my main career choice,” he said, while adding that he still plays regularly and keeps his game in shape.

That distinction matters. It separates Ball’s current path from the kind of vague “still pursuing everything” answer that can make athlete-musician crossover stories feel flimsy. He gave a real answer. Basketball remains part of his life, but music is the job now.

At the same time, Ball said he still runs with his brothers and with NBA players when they are back home, and he made it clear he does not view himself as removed from the game.

“I do play basketball like with my brothers and some NBA dudes when they come home and stuff,” Ball said. “So, I keep my game always touched up pretty much.”

What LiAngelo Ball wants NBA teams to know about his game

Ball was asked what he would say directly to an NBA general manager about his game right now.

Rather than pitch himself as a star or oversell his résumé, Ball framed himself as a player focused on team fit and winning.

“I would like them to know that I’m a winner first,” Ball said. “So like when I come on to a team, it’s like I try to see, I try to do what the team needs to win.”

He then got more specific about the kind of role he believes he can fill.

“If they need an impact score, I feel like I could produce scoring, defense and winning,” Ball said. “Like I just got a winning vibe for real. I’ma do whatever play it takes.”

Ball is not just saying he would accept a call. He is giving a self-scouting report. He sees himself as a flexible piece, not just a name looking for another chance.

LiAngelo Ball is no longer defined by one lane

Ball offered a clear update on where he stands. Music is his career focus. Basketball is still part of his identity. And if the phone rings, he wants teams to know he sees himself as more than a novelty.

That is why the most useful way to read his comments is not as a formal comeback announcement. It is as a statement of professional posture. Ball has chosen the lane he is driving in every day, but he is still keeping another one open.

For now, that is the two-way contract he is actually living.
