Stockholders feelpain of PG&E bills
Re: “PG&E profits built on ratepayers’ backs” (Page A6, Feb. 21).
This letter and others complaining about how “wealthy” the shareholders are getting from PG&E dividends just isn’t true. The company has gone through two bankruptcies which caused a stop to dividends for a long time.
Dividends resumed in 2024 at the rate of one penny a share, which cost more to issue than the check was worth. Only the last dividend this year produced a 2½ cents per share check, again really nothing for a small shareholder. The current share price is so low compared to the size of this utility it isn’t worth investing in. The only ones who are probably making bank here are the overpaid executives and the board of directors.
I too have to pay overpriced bills for gas and electricity like everyone else. Stop wasting money on advertising and patting yourselves on the back, and lower rates now.

Trump is marchingU.S. toward autocracy
Re: “Vance’s Munich disgrace is an echo of the past” (Page A6, Feb. 21).
The column is smack on with its insights for today.
In 1933, the Nazi Party with Hitler as its leader used all the tools and rules of democracy to diminish and then destroy democracy in Germany, resulting in an authoritarian state. The same scenario is going on in the USA today. Trump’s version of “Mein Kampf,” the Project 2025 Report, is his blueprint for success.
The Republicans in Congress are fearful of Trump, and the Democrats appear to be powerless; hence we are headed toward an autocracy.

Trump’s waste crusadeto fund tax cut for rich
Re: “Hundreds rally against firings, citing threats to public health” (Page A3, Feb.20).
Donald Trump’s crusade to “cut government waste” is just another deceptive charade to fund huge tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy — subsidized by the rest of us.
Trump is cutting funding and staff of the U.S. Department of Health, Veterans Administration, Medicaid, Medicare, NIH and CDC — threatening the health of military veterans, seniors and the entire U.S. population (remember the 2020 COVID world pandemic?) — all so the wealthiest 1% can pay even less than they already do.
Trump’s 2017 tax cuts for billionaires already added $2 trillion to our budget deficit — his new tax cuts will add an estimated $5 trillion to the 10-year deficit. I wonder how many Trump voters will enjoy paying much higher taxes to help the wealthiest 1%?

Time for citizens toshow up against Trump
Is America great again?
• Trump supports veterans by cutting thousands of federal jobs. Nearly 30% of federal workers are veterans.
• Trump protects consumers by stopping work at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It protects us from predatory financial practices, saved consumers nearly $20 billion since inception, capped credit card late fees at 8% and caught scammers.
• Trump brought down egg prices on Day One? A dozen eggs cost $10 last week at my local supermarket.
• Trump made the FAA efficient by firing its chief Administrator and Aviation Security Committee. Five airplane crashes and two ground collisions occurred during his first month in office.
Is this “greatness”? Let’s stop it: join one of several national movements to check this self-proclaimed “king”; call for town hall meetings with your congressional representative and demand action; contact your U.S. senator about your experiences; donate or volunteer to elect Democrats and take control of Congress in ’26; show up.
