Knicks Make Important Mikal Bridges Decision Vs Hornets

Mikal Bridges will give the Knicks one last appearance before stepping aside, and that says a lot about how New York is managing the season finale. The goal is simple: keep his streak alive, keep the roster healthy, and move toward the playoffs without any unnecessary risk.

According to Ian Begley:

“Mikal Bridges will start today and then will be taken out of the game, Mike Brown says. Bridges’ consecutive games streak will continue. Brown says the streak ‘speaks volumes’ about Bridges. Brown said it’s his decision for Bridges to start and leave the game immediately.”

Knicks Injury Report

New York’s injury report is still stacked. Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson, and Tyler Kolek are all out for the Hornets game. That leaves the Knicks thin at both ends of the floor and forces the bench to carry more of the load than usual.

Why Mike Brown Is Doing This

Brown’s decision is all about the bigger picture. The Knicks already secured their playoff position, so there is no reason to push Bridges or the other starters for a full game. By letting Bridges start and then exit, Brown protects the streak, respects the player’s durability, and avoids any late-season setback.

It is a cautious move, but also a smart one. The playoffs matter more than the game result, and Brown is clearly coaching with that in mind.
