IPL 2026 might be the most popular T20 Cricket league, but it’s not the only one around. Between IPL, The Hundred, Big Bash League, and the PSL, there is a lot of cricket to choose from. Some players may not find success in one league, but then join a new league and have things completely change. In this case, that player is Chris Green.
Recently, the former Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer has been making noise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Here is what you need to know about his performance on April 9th, along with his history in the IPL, his bowling controversy, and why he joined the PSL.
Chris Green Puts on a Bowling Clinic in the Islamabad United vs Lahore Qalandars Match
There are two PSL matches scheduled for April 9th, 2026, with Green playing in one of them.
The first match on tap was Lahore Qalandars vs Islamabad United. Lahore was up to bat first, and they were limited to a measly 100 runs in 18.3 overs thanks to the bowling from Islamabad.
And Green was a huge part of that.
The off-spinner bowled four overs for Islamabad, collecting three scalps while only surrendering 19 runs. Green finished the match with a 4.75 Economy. Islamabad used six bowlers in total, with five earning at least one wicket, and four recording multiple wickets.
So far this season, Green has three wickets in three matches, with an Economy of 7.62.
Who is Chris Green?
Chris Green is a 32-year-old right-handed off-spinner. While he was born in South Africa, he was raised in Australia.
T20 is where Green has the great majority of his cricket experience, having played in the PSL, SA20, BBL, CPL, Men’s Hundred, Vitality Blast, and the IPL.
Chris Green, Former Kolkata Knight Riders Bowler?
The journeyman bowler has seen his fair share of matches in several big T20 cricket leagues. Green has played at least 10 matches in the BBL, CPL, Vitality Blast, and Men’s Hundred.
However, he did play for the Kolkata Knight Riders many years ago.
While his IPL profile page offers no information, ESPNcricinfo provides what you need to know. Green bowled one match for KKR during the 2020/21 season, achieving a 0/24 figure.
At the 2020 IPL auction, Green was purchased for Rs 20 lakh. That was the only time he has ever been sold at an IPL auction.
Chris Green Bowling Controversy
In January of 2020, Green was banned from bowling for 90 days. This was because of an illegal action he performed during a BBL match in January of 2020.
The illegal action was described as bowling with a bent arm rather than a straight arm. Green had to undergo testing in order to bowl again. This ban occurred at the same time he was sold to KKR at the 2020 auction.
Green Brought in As Injury Replacement
Green wasn’t originally going to play PSL until he was brought in as an injury replacement for Max Bryant. He was signed on March 25th, the day before the PSL season started.
Green will be one bowler to follow in the coming weeks as the PSL season rolls along.
