Joel Embiid Reacts to 76ers’ Massive Game 2 Win vs Celtics

The Philadelphia 76ers have pulled off an upset in Game 2 against the Boston Celtics.

After a strong performance from the duo of Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, the Sixers managed to take down the Celtics 111-97.

Following the game, Sixers star Joel Embiid took to social media with a quick but strong reaction.

The superstar center is understandably excited.

Although Embiid has watched the Sixers struggle in his absence many times over the years, Tuesday’s Game 2 action in Boston was totally different.

From the start, the Sixers had control of the game. It was a major breath of fresh air compared to their Game 1 blowout loss on Sunday.

Tyrese Maxey checked in for 40 minutes. He shot 11-28 from the field, knocking down 5-12 shots from beyond the arc. The two-time All-Star produced 29 points while coming just one assist shy of a double-double.

Meanwhile, the rookie guard VJ Edgecombe had a massive performance. Despite leaving the court with a setback twice, Edgecombe managed to return and continued to have an impact.

In 35 minutes, Edgecombe shot 12-20 from the field and hit on 60% of his threes. He finished the game with 30 points, contributing to a double-double with 10 rebounds. Edgecombe also had two steals on defense as well.

The Sixers are bringing a win back to Philadelphia, where they’ll play the next two games.

Joel Embiid’s involvement seems unlikely at this time. After getting diagnosed with appendicitis during the final week of the regular season, Embiid underwent surgery. The 76ers didn’t reveal a timeline for his return.

As expected, Embiid missed the remainder of the regular season, along with the Play-In game. He has now been out for two playoff games as well. On Monday, the Sixers announced that Embiid made progress in his recovery by beginning his strength and conditioning program.

In the meantime, the Sixers are going to continue relying on Maxey, Edgecombe, and the rest of the team in a tough series against the second-seeded Celtics.

Game 3 will happen in Philadelphia on Friday, April 24, at 7 PM ET.
