Didn’t have that on the bingo card.
The New York Jets announced on social media that they have brought back wide receiver Isaiah Williams on the practice squad on Monday, October 6.
Williams was waived from the 53-man roster after two costly mistakes during the Week 4 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
He fumbled a kickoff during a momentous sequence during the second half that resulted in a touchdown the other way. Then inexplicably, he fair caught a ball at his own two-yard line.
Hours before the Jets were set to take on the Dallas Cowboys, the team moved on — at least temporarily.
Social Media Set Ablaze With Jets’ Decision
A Jets fan responded with an image that said, “0 days since last Jets embarrassment.
“This has to be a Monday joke,” another fan said.
Some fans praised the decision, “Avery Williams & Khalil Herbert was trash on kick & punt returns. They were slow and ran into defenders. I’m glad they brought back I. Williams to the practice squad.”
“Why? What happened to accountability?” a fan openly asked on social media.
Jets Bring Back Williams at a Lower Level
When the team initially brought Williams in, it was on the 53-man roster. They signed him off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad.
When a player is signed off another team’s p-squad they have to be added to the active roster. Over the weekend, the Jets waived Williams, which meant any of the other 31 teams could have claimed him and added Williams to their 53-man roster.
No one bit.
Once he “cleared waivers,” the team decided to bring him back on their own practice squad, ESPN’s Rich Cimini explained.
