The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that deputies responded Thursday night to a home in the unincorporated town of Kittredge after a 911 caller said Bradley Lindsey, 35, told them while walking down the street to “call the police if they heard gunshots.”
When deputies arrived, they found Lindsey covered in blood and a wounded 61-year-old man whom investigators believe Lindsey attacked with a hatchet, according to the news release.
The homeowner told deputies he didn’t know Lindsey but that Lindsey knocked on the door and spoke about “taking care of” the victim, who was a tenant in the home and who was in the process of being evicted.
Lindsey was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, deputies said. As of Friday morning, he had yet to be formally charged and was being held at the Jefferson County jail.
The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and has since been released, sheriff’s officials said.
