The 2025-26 NBA season didn’t end the way that the Boston Celtics would have hoped, as they were eliminated in seven games in the first round of the playoffs by the rival Philadelphia 76ers.
But despite the ultimate outcome, Celtics star forward Jaylen Brown still has overwhelmingly positive feelings about the season.

Brown had his best season individually in ’25-26 as he stepped up in a big way in the absence of Jayson Tatum, who missed the majority of the season while recovering from an Achilles tear.
As a team, the Celtics overcame a lot of adversity to remain competitive and finish with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. Brown doesn’t think the ultimate outcome should negate all of that.
“Great season,” Brown said. “Obviously, it didn’t finish the way we would’ve liked. I give credit to Philadelphia. I watched them get better as the series went on. But just for our guys to come out in a Game 7 and play with that level of intensity and trust, that’s the style we felt like we’ve been doing all year, and I loved it.
“In the fourth quarter we had some great looks I wish would’ve went down,” Brown added. “But nothing to hang my head over. Nothing for us to hang our head over.”
Brown is right. It was an extremely competitive series between Boston and Philly, and ultimately the Sixers were just able to make a few more plays than the Celtics. That’s how the ball bounces sometimes, but it’s not a reason for the Celtics to feel bad about themselves. They’ll likely be right back in the thick of things next season.
Jaylen Brown Has ‘No Regrets’ About 2025-26 NBA Season
Brown had 33 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks in Boston’s 109-100 Game 7 loss. His production ultimately wasn’t enough to get the job done, but he felt like he and his teammates left it all on the floor in the series.
“No feelings of regret whatsoever. “Obviously, we would have liked to close it out … but Philadelphia is a good basketball team, and they’ve gotten better since the regular season,” Brown said.
“It’s the playoffs. We knew it was going to be a fight, and we didn’t expect nothing less. Nothing to hang our head over. Got no regrets.”
Brown and the Celtics will now get an opportunity to regroup over the offseason and perhaps bring in some reinforcements to fortify the roster in an effort to advance deeper in the postseason than they were able to this year.
