Insider Hints Eagles Eyeing Another Big Trade In Addition to AJ Brown

Fans hoping for a resolution to the offseason drama between the Philadelphia Eagles and wide receiver A.J. Brown were sadly disappointed on Monday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that though the Eagles and New England Patriots are at a standstill in their trade discussions, that may change sometime after the 2026 NFL draft.

“Conversations are expected to resume [between the Patriots and Eagles) shortly on or before June 1, likely culminating in a deal, per league sources,” Schefter stated. “As one source said about the Patriots’ pursuit of Brown, they’ll ‘definitely be engaging then.’ A trade to New England is now considered likely.”

Eagles Targeting More Than One Trade

In addition to the tidbit he dropped about Brown, Schefter also implied Philadelphia is looking into another trade, which may happen during the draft this week.

“One note about the Eagles here: that may just be the start for the Eagles,” Schefter stated on ESPN’s “Get Up.” “A.J. Brown, obviously, is waiting to happen. But the Eagles always have a trick or two up their sleeve. Now, they had spoken to the Vikings about Jonathan Greenard, the pass-rusher — those talks have lost steam.

“I’m not so sure that that trade is going to happen. But I think that there are a handful of other scenarios that the Eagles have in mind, and it wouldn’t be surprising to pull off another trade outside of the A.J. Brown trade that will not happen this week and until June 1.”

“Get Up” host Mike Greenberg pressed for further details: “Just to be clear here, are we talking about just draft stuff here or active players, or some combination of the two? What do we know, and what can you tell us?”

“Well, I think the Eagles are always looking to move up and down the draft board,” Schefter replied. “But I think there are certain veteran players out there that they’re always scouring for.

“There are a list of players available out there this week that other teams are all looking at — I’m just saying the Eagles never sit back and wait, and I don’t expect that they’ll do that this week either.”

Brown Skipping Eagles Offseason Workouts

While he waits to find out his fate, Brown isn’t taking any chances.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Brown was a no-show for the start of the team’s offseason workout program on Monday morning.

“The #Eagles begin their offseason workout program today and WR A.J. Brown is not expected to attend as he awaits clarity on his future, sources tell The Insiders,” Garafolo reported. “There’s nothing mandatory before June 1, when trade talks with the #Patriots and perhaps others likely resume.”

With a potential deal with the Patriots hanging in the balance, few would blame Brown for not wanting to risk an injury participating in any drills or working out at the team’s facility.
