Incumbent Scott Wiener takes early lead in California Senate District 11 race

Incumbent state Sen. Scott Wiener is on track to retain his seat in California Senate District 11, holding a wide lead with 70% of the vote compared to Republican challenger Yvette Corkrean’s 29%, according to initial poll results.

Wiener’s district encompasses all of San Francisco and parts of San Mateo County, including Daly City, Colma, and Broadmoor.

Wiener is known for his housing initiatives aimed at streamlining affordable housing production. He also authored the controversial “Frontier Artificial Intelligence Models Act” (SB 1047), which sought to regulate AI to prevent potential catastrophes and terrorist attacks. The bill hurdled both state houses, but was ultimately vetoed by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
