In-N-Out breaks ground on its Tennessee office building

In-N-Out Burger has broken ground on an “eastern territory” office building in metropolitan Nashville, signaling an expansion in the Midwest.

Today, we’re breaking ground on the next chapter for In-N-Out Burger, what we’re calling our eastern territory in Franklin, Tenn.,” Rob Howards, vice president of Technology and Business Operations, said at the ceremony.

It took place at the construction site for the office building on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Lynsi Snyder, owner and president of the chain, discussed the expansion in personal terms.

“I love you guys, and I know this is going to be huge for In-N-Out. And it won’t be very hard to find family-friendly people to hire here.”

The 100,000-square-foot office building is expected to be completed in 2026, according to a news release. Its design will combine “California-Spanish” and Tennessee architure with both stucco and brick, Howards said.

The street address will be 1948 Double Double Drive, Rob Howards, vice president of Technology and Business Operations, announced at the ceremony.

In-N-Out’s operations are currently based in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The chain was founded in 1948 in Baldwin Park, where it still has a company store, training center and offices within walking distance from  the place where Harry and Esther Snyder, Lynsi Snyder’s grandparents, opened their first drive-thru.

In-N-Out’s headquarters are in Irvine, and there is a distribution center in Chino.

Tennessee’s first In-N-Out restaurants are also expected to open in 2026, beginning with one near eastern headquarters at 1951 Double Double Drive, according to Howards. The address references the birth year of Lynsi Snyder’s father, Guy.

Lynsi Snyder announced the Tennesse expansion with Gov. Bill Lee in January 2023.

In-N-Out currently has more than 408 restaurants in eight states: California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado and Idaho. Its newest locations, numbered 407 and 408, opened Sept. 5 in Arvada and Parker, Colo.

Restaurants are also planned for New Mexico and Washington as well as Tennesee. Washington will likely open next, Snyder said at the ceremony, with Tennessee being the chain’s 10th state.

“Knowing that this will be the 10th state is really exciting. Tennessee, 10 is just kind of perfect.”
