In London, Bears celebrate TD with tea time

LONDON — Touchdown meant tea time.

The Bears celebrated a third-quarter score at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday with the most British celebration possible. As Keenan Allen stood up following a nine-yard touchdown catch, he motioned for his teammates to run over. They sat cross-legged in a circle in the end zone and held pretend cups of tea. They began to sip — first receiver DJ Moore then Allen then offensive linemen. Some even had their pinkies out.

Moore hinted at the celebration when asked this week whether he had anything special planned.

“We were talking about that … between me, Keenan and. [running back DeAndre Swift],” he said. “We’re going to have to come up with something.”

The catch, on third down, was Allen’s first touchdown as a Bear. The team sent a fourth-round pick to the Chargers for him in March. It gave quarterback Caleb Williams three passing touchdowns in a game, something that neither Mitch Trubisky nor Justin Fields ever accomplished as rookies.
