Human remains found in Black Canyon of the Gunnison likely belong to missing Denver man

Human remains likely belonging to a missing Denver man were found in the remote wilderness of Colorado’s Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, officials said Tuesday.

Jordan Marsters, 31, was reported missing Feb. 15 after he was last seen at the park 12 miles east of Montrose on the Western Slope two days earlier.

Rangers and a member of the park’s search and rescue team found human remains “within a remote and highly technical area” of the park, National Park Service officials said in a news release.

It’s likely Marsters was alone when he died, and the death is under investigation.

Black Canyon officials are working to recover his remains and is reaching out to nearby national parks with “extreme technical skill sets” for help. NPS is not releasing additional information about the location or case until the remains are recovered, the agency said.
