Hiker evacuated from Rocky Mountain National Park on air ambulance

An 80-year-old hiker was evacuated Monday from Rocky Mountain National Park after other hikers found her unresponsive on the trail.

RMNP officials said the woman experienced a “cardiac event” about five miles from the Lawn Lake trailhead Monday morning and was unresponsive when other hikers found her on the trail.

The group of hikers performed CPR on the 80-year-old woman until medical help arrived, according to a news release from Rocky Mountain National Park.

Lawn Lake Trail is 12 1/2 miles long and is generally considered a challenging route that takes around six hours to complete, according to AllTrails.
