Here’s where Colorado drivers got the most citations for speeding in school, construction zones

Drivers in several Colorado counties are not slowing down for school or construction zones.

The Colorado State Patrol issued over 1,200 citations to almost 1,220 drivers speeding in school and construction zones in 2024, according to Colorado State Patrol, and motorists in Adams, Boulder, Eagle, El Paso and Park counties are home almost half of those drivers.

El Paso County topped the list with 327 citations, an increase from 222 such citations in 2023. Adams County had 104 citations, Eagle County had 77 and Boulder and Park counties tied with 56.

Speeding in construction and school zones is dangerous because construction workers and children are likely to be present in those low-speed zones, the release stated.
