Gui Santos Makes Reaction Post After Major Warriors News

Ahead of the battle of California contender hopefuls, the Golden State Warriors signed one of their promising young talents, Gui Santos, to an extension.

Going into the matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers, Santos holds a brand-new multi-season deal.

After the news was revealed, the 23-year-old forward took to social media to react.

Gui Santos Reacts To Signing An Extension With The Warriors

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the duration of Santos’ deal is set at three years. He is expected to make $15 million over that time.

The contract also includes a player option for the 2028-2029 NBA season.

Santos entered the NBA in 2022. He was recruited while playing for the Brazilian basketball club, Minas. The Warriors selected him in the second round, 55th overall.

Initially, Santos was a G League prospect, spending time with the Warriors’ affiliate in Santa Cruz. In 2023, the Warriors offered Santos a three-year deal, which included a team option for 2025.

With the new contract in place, the Warriors keep Santos off the free agency market in July. He is currently playing on a $2.2 million salary.

During his first season with the Warriors, Santos appeared in just 23 games at the primary level. He saw the court for 8.3 minutes per outing. The then-rookie produced 3.6 points per game, while shooting 50% from the field.

In the following year, Santos saw a small bump in production. He averaged 4.1 points per game while shooting 45% from the field.

During the 2025-2026 NBA season, Santos has seen the court for 48 games and collected a career-high 16.0 minutes per game. The veteran forward has produced 6.6 points per game, while shooting 53% from the field and knocking down 39% of his threes.

With the Warriors dealing with injuries across the roster, it’s given the young Santos an opportunity to step in and earn himself another contract extension.

GettySteve Kerr had major praise for Gui Santos just days before the Warriors signed him to an extension.

“He’s taken another step this year,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters earlier this week. “Last year, he was a very important role player for us. Number one on the team in plus-minus and after the [Jimmy Butler] trade, he really solidified that role.”

But beyond that, Kerr and the Warriors are enjoying Santos’ growth in year three.

“Now, he’s become more on-ball as a creator [and] a post-up guy,” Kerr added. “The step-through move that you saw was incredible. He has the ability to play point guard when the other team is pressuring us. He’s really a versatile player and somebody we really value.”

The Warriors enter the weekend holding a record of 31-28.

They aren’t exactly where they want to be, but the postseason is still in play. By winning just over 50 percent of their games, the Warriors are placed eighth in the Western Conference behind the Phoenix Suns and the Lakers. They are in Play-In Tournament territory as of now.

On Saturday, the Warriors will get a chance to move one game closer to Phoenix. With the team still shorthanded and dealing with a Draymond Green setback, Santos will continue to play an important role.
