With just hours to go until the 2026 NFL Draft, New York Giants fans can be excited about the fact that they hold two selections within the top-10 picks.
Thanks to Saturday’s Dexter Lawrence trade, the Giants now have two prime opportunities to add two blue-chip prospects at the top of the draft order.
Draft experts and analysts are beginning to turn in their final mock drafts, and NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah is no different.
One of the most plugged-in, accurate draft pundits has a fairly good track record of getting his mocks right, thanks to his sources within front offices.
Who does Jeremiah think the Giants are going to select with their two first-round picks?
Giants Land RB Jeremiyah Love at No. 5 Overall
With the fifth overall pick, Jeremiah has the New York Giants selecting Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, adding a dangerous threat in the backfield to take some pressure off of second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart.
“In this scenario, Love falls into the Giants’ lap and they can’t turn down the opportunity to pair Jaxson Dart with a home run hitter in the backfield,” wrote Jeremiah.
“If Love is off the board at No. 5, I think WR Jordyn Tyson would be the pick here.”
With the other leading favorite to be the Giants’ pick, linebacker Sonny Styles, off the board to the Tennessee Titans at No. 4, New York grabs their running back of the future
To some experts, including NBC Sports’ Connor Rogers, Love is the best overall player in the entire incoming class. The only reason he isn’t projected to go any higher is due to his position.
Despite being a Heisman Finalist and scoring 35 touchdowns over the last two seasons, there are some legitimate reasons not to want the Giants to draft Love.
For starters, New York already has a decent duo of running backs in Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy.
To be fair, though, neither was as highly touted a prospect as Love coming out of Notre Dame.
It would be an exciting draft pick for sure, but should the Giants make sure they build out the roster first before adding a superstar running back into the mix, like Love?
There would definitely be shades of the Saquon Barkley draft pick here if this ends up becoming reality.
Giants Select WR Carnell Tate at No. 10
At No. 10 overall, Jeremiah has the New York Giants selecting Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate, adding another pass-catching option in the mix with Malik Nabers, Darnell Mooney, and Isaiah Likely.
“With Jordyn Tyson off the board, Tate comes into play for the Giants,” continued Jeremiah.
“The rookie joins Malik Nabers to give Jaxson Dart two outstanding wide receivers heading into a critical year in his development.”
Wide receiver is a fairly big need for the Giants. When it comes to Nabers’ knee injury, it’s unclear when exactly he’ll be ready to return.
Not only could Tate help fill if his rehab continues late into the summer, but he would provide the perfect No. 2 option across from the Pro Bowler.
At Ohio State, Tate was the WR2 in an offense featuring Buckeye standout Jeremiah Smith. He would fit right into the Giants’ offense across from Nabers.
Overall, this is a pretty great haul for New York. If this ends up becoming reality in the 2026 NFL Draft’s first round, Giants fans would be satisfied.
