Francisco Lindor Makes Honest Statement About New York Mets Manager

On Sunday afternoon, the New York Mets finished their series with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The Mets lost (in the 10th inning) by a score of 2-1.

They have now dropped 11 games in a row.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com wrote: “The Mets have lost 11 straight. It’s tied for the seventh-longest losing streak in franchise history. Their record is a 17-game losing streak in 1962. A nine-game homestand begins Tuesday against the Twins.”

Francisco Lindor finished the game with one strikeout and no hits in four at-bats.

After the loss, the five-time MLB All-Star was asked about manager Carlos Mendoza (h/t SNY).

Lindor: “He’s done a fantastic job. This is not on him… It comes down on us. Mendy’s our guy… He’s done a tremendous job, we just haven’t executed.”

Lindor has been one of the key players to struggle this season.

He is batting .205 with 18 hits, one home run, one RBI, 12 runs and two stolen bases in 22 games.

For reference, Lindor is coming off a year where he batted .267 with 31 home runs, 86 RBI’s, 117 runs and 31 stolen bases in 160 games.

Jorge Castillo of ESPN wrote: “Pitching to Nico Hoerner there was an interesting decision, but the Mets’ 11-game losing streak comes down to the offense. They’ve scored 2 or fewer runs in 9 of the losses. Not having Juan Soto hurts, but it shouldn’t hurt this much for the second-most expensive roster in MLB.”

Mets Right Now

The Mets dropped to 7-15 in 22 games, which has them at the bottom of the National League East.

They are 4-9 in the 13 games they have played on the road away from Citi Field.

On Monday, the Mets will get an off day (before hosting the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday).

FOX Sports: MLB wrote: “Brutal stretch continues for the Mets… New York had a lead in the 9th at Wrigley but couldn’t hold on as they drop their 11th straight.”

The Mets are coming off a season where they missed the MLB playoffs (despite one of the best rosters in baseball).

There will be a lot of noise about Mendoza’s future as the manager of the franchise (if the losing continues).
